Cross the Golden Gate Bridge

As part of Caravan’s California tour you’ll also cross the 2-mile Golden Gate Bridge, on the way to Sonoma wine country. The bridge, which opened in the spring of 1937, was named after the Golden Gate Strait, which is the Pacific Coast entrance to San Francisco Bay. Until 1964, the Golden Gate Bridge was the longest bridge in the world.

Drive Through Sonoma Wine Country

After crossing the Golden Gate Bridge your next stop is a Sonoma wine country tour. Caravan’s tour of Sonoma wine country includes a stopover at one of the 250 local wineries where you’ll get to enjoy exclusive wine tasting from what is arguably some of the best and most popular wines in the world.

Located just west of Napa Valley wine country, Sonoma County wineries produce award-winning wines from excellent grape varieties grown across a diverse landscape. Many Sonoma Valley wineries also include a tasting room such as Imagery Estate Winery, Arrowood Vineyards & Winery, St. Francis Winery, Benziger Family Winery, Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards, Kamen Estate Wines, and the Zina Hyde Cunningham Tasting Room, to name a few.

The Russian River area of Sonoma wine county is a well-known wine-producing area and a great place to sample some great wines like at Iron Horse Winery, Adrian Fog Winery, Freeman Vineyard & Winery, or Dehlinger Winery. Most Sonoma wineries have daily wine tasting events and tours that one can enjoy.

Sonoma Wine Road

One of the more popular tour routes through Sonoma Wine Country is Sonoma Wine Road. This route is fascinating not only for its list of top California wineries, but for the scenic beauty and the many unique Sonoma bed and breakfasts one can enjoy.

Sonoma Wine Road has more than 150 of the area’s top wineries, most of which have been producing world-class wine for more than half a century. The wine tasting experience in Sonoma wine county is unrivalled anywhere else in the USA.
