Costa Rica All-Inclusive Resorts in San Jose

Your tour begins and ends at a Costa Rica all-inclusive resort in San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica. Located in the Central Valley, San Jose is renowned for its memorable markets, museums, theaters, and restaurants, and has its own distinctive charm. Popular with tourists, San Jose is surrounded by quaint farm villages and three majestic volcanoes.

San Jose is also a great “jumping off” point for our Costa Rica all inclusive travel package, with easy access to all our tour itinerary destinations. While in San Jose, our tour guests stay at the Real InterContinental Hotel upon arrival and at Quality Real Hotel on the final day of the tour.

Real InterContinental Hotel

This is a luxurious 4-star hotel located adjacent to San Jose’s famous Multi-Plaza Mall and Shopping Centre in the exclusive area of Escazu. The Real InterContinental Hotel is where luxury and tranquility meet and features spacious accommodations including executive rooms and suites. The hotel also features heated pools, tropical gardens, an exclusive spa, plus a number of excellent restaurants and a lounge with live music.

Quality Real Hotel

With a 3-star hotel rating, the Quality Real Hotel is located in the Santa Ana business district of San Jose, with easy access (just six miles) to the airport. The hotel has a multi-lingual staff and features three restaurants, an outdoor swimming pool with a garden, and an exercise room.

Costa Rica All-Inclusive Resorts in La Fortuna

Costa Rica is often referred to as the “land of volcanoes.” While most of Costa Rica's 116 volcanoes are dormant, the active lava flow of Arenal Volcano is a major tourism attraction.

Located next to Arenal Volcano National Park, La Fortuna gives our Caravan travelers the one-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness the glowing active lava flows of Arenal Volcano, Costa Rica’s most active volcano. The area boasts not only amazing views of Arenal volcano (weather permitting) but also natural rainforests and cloud forests with some of Costa Rica’s most impressive natural diversity. Your Costa Rica all inclusive resort stay also includes a trip to the Baldi Hot Springs!

During your tour of Costa Rica, your all inclusive resort stay in La Fortuna will be at one of three available resort hotels, including:

Lomas del Volcan

Located in the foothills and in full view of Arenal Volcano, this all inclusive Costa Rica resort hotel is situated within a 300 acre natural reserve and features air conditioned chalets close to amazing nearby nature trails. On their own, the surrounding rainforest canopy wildlife, flora and fauna are worth the stay here. Other nearby natural attractions includes Butterfly Gardens, Hot Springs, Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge, and the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve and conservation area.

Arenal Springs

Built in a Colonial style, this newly opened all inclusive Costa Rica resort also features air-conditioned chalets that offer amazing views of Arenal Volcano. Arenal Springs is a 90-room all inclusive Costa Rica resort and spa, and part of the Arenal Hot Springs area. The hotel features 2 outdoor pools, full service spa facilities, and 3 excellent restaurants.

Magic Mountain

Every room at this 4-star Magic Mountain Hotel and Spa features a terrace or balcony with a full view of Arenal Volcano. This all inclusive Costa Rica resort also has a swim up pool bar, several Jacuzzis and full service spa facilities and is surrounded by lush tropical rainforests.

Costa Rica All-Inclusive Resort In Guanacaste

Renowned for the diversity between its incredible west cost rainforests and the pristine shorelines of its Pacific Coast beaches, the province of Guanacaste is a true tropical paradise. Guanacaste enjoys over two million visitors each year, many of whom come here to visit the area’s leatherback turtle nesting beaches.

While enjoying your Caravan Costa Rica tour, your all inclusive resort stay in Guanacaste will be at the JW Marriott Resort and Spa.

JW Marriott Hotel & Spa

The JW Marriott Guanacaste Resort is a family friendly, oceanfront, hacienda style 5-star hotel that offers an authentic Costa Rica experience with luxury that is unparalleled. Boasting a secluded beach, this resort hotel features an amazing infinity pool and is located next to a unique 18-hole golf and country club that also has amazing Pacific Ocean views.

Manuel Antonio Costa Rica All-Inclusive Resort

Established in 1972, Manuel Antonio National Park may be small in size but it is immense in stature. The tropical rainforests of Manuel Antonio Park is home to a huge diversity of tropical flora and fauna, as well as exceptional wildlife including 3-toed sloths, Macaws, Toucans, howler monkeys, and white-faced capuchin monkeys. The 680 hectare park features exceptional Pacific Coast white sandy beaches, plus many hiking trails, making it a favorite destination for many Costa Rica vacationers.

While on your all inclusive Caravan Costa Rica tour, you will stay at the San Bada Hotel, which overlooks the Pacific Ocean and is located on the mountainside, right at the entrance to Manuel Antonia National Park.

Hotel San Bada Costa Rica

The 4-star San Bada Hotel features a full-service spa plus a unique rooftop pool and bar that offers spectacular sunset views of Pacific Ocean and the beaches of Guanacaste. Just a few minutes walk down from the hotel you’ll find one of the area’s best beaches plus numerous local shops and restaurants.

Book Your All-Inclusive Costa Rica Tour Now!

Caravan offers all inclusive Costa Rica tours throughout the year with our most popular months between December and March. We do recommend that you book your preferred travel dates early since Costa Rica is a very popular tour and tends to sell out very quickly. Keep in mind that this little Central American country has fewer than 5 million people who have made the preservation of their natural resources their number one priority. As a result, Costa Rica boasts as much as 6% of the world’s biodiversity and tourism is their number one industry. You can read more details about the Costa Rica tour itinerary here.

Although each property is wonderfully different and may have many unique features, Caravan's goal is to offer a comparable overall selection so that you can experience the same enjoyment regardless of which property combination you find on your actual tour departure. Scheduled Caravan sightseeing will be the same from all the hotels.

Clothing Tips

This is a casual tour. Casual wear is suggested for sightseeing and daytime travelling. Dress code for evenings is casual. Suit jackets for men and dresses for women are never required on the Caravan’s Costa Rica tour. It is recommended to wear drip-dry clothing (such as that offered by Columbia, ExOfficio and Travelsmith) in the rainforest. Shirts with long sleeves and long pants are recommended for rain forest and cloud forest hikes. Pants that zip at the knee to convert into shorts are very comfortable in the rainforest.  See Travel Planner: General Clothing Tips

Back to Top Customer Reviews of our Costa Rica Natural Paradise tour

“I took the tour to see the nature and beauty of Costa Rica. It was beyond my expectations. Several friends had recommended this Caravan tour to me and now I am ready to recommend your company to others.”

Mrs. D.T., Story, Wyoming

“This was the best vacation I've had. It is the only way to see Costa Rica.”

Ms. P.H., Plano, Texas

“The sights were absolutely fabulous! We visited all the places we were interested in seeing. This was an exceptional tour at an exceptional price. The guides were very eco-minded. We received a good education from them and their passion for preserving their environment was contagious. We totally get it. Your Costa Rican tour was awesome.”

Mr. & Mrs. B.H., Burton, Michigan

“The superior lodging and food made our concerns seem silly. We found all the hotels clean and modern and we were exceptionally pleased with the luxury, botanicals and unique character of the J.W. Marriott. We always try to support local artists when we travel, so we were delighted to visit Sarchi with its oxcart factory and its shop with an extensive selection of goods made in Costa Rica. We enjoyed the spectacular and clean pools at Baldi Hot Springs, cruising the Rio Frio; the focus on flora and fauna attracted us to this trip in the first place.”

Mr. & Mrs. M.C., Kenai, Arkansas

“I was in awe. I was in Costa Rica on vacation. Couldn’t have asked for a better ride from our driver. A first class guy. My first Caravan trip and I would recommend you guys to anyone.”

Mr. H.T., Waterloo, Illinois

“It is almost impossible to visit a country in one week, but Caravan is doing a wonderful job in Costa Rica. Food was incredible, very fresh, great variety and plentiful. Love all activities. Got to see all birds and animals including the elusive sloth. We had a smooth ride, everything was just wonderful.”

Ms. V.N., Terrytown, Louisiana

“I definitely want you to know our feeling about this tour considering it is one of if not the best tours we have ever taken. Every hotel was very good with outstanding locations - of course the Marriott was over the top. The efficiency that Caravan developed in hotel check-in was easy and fast. The sightseeing was outstanding for sure. We had been to Costa Rica previously and this was by far superior by the extensive destinations geographically seeing most of the country that tourists would be interested in. This coupled with the extremely skilled guide made it superior to what we had seen before. He was so very knowledgeable concerning every possible thing we were witnessing and much more. In addition, he has an extremely entertaining wit. We both had a wonderful time and were amazed at all we got for the $’s.”

Mr. & Mrs. J.M., Marysville, Washington.

“Simply the best driving skill that I have ever seen from someone driving a vehicle as large as our coach. Just an all-around excellent driver and he deserves the highest praise...the hotels were clean and pleasant, a couple quite beautiful. Overall as a group they deserve an ‘A’ rating. Sightseeing was pleasingly fresh for me. This was something different which is what I was looking for from this trip. It was a learning experience as well as entertaining.”

Mr. L.S., Adrian, Michigan

“You have put together an outstanding package at a very reasonable price. Costa Rica is a great vacation destination!”

Mr. & Mrs. M.M., Laguna Niguel, California

“This is an amazing tour especially for the price. I did not expect luxury hotels on this trip! Everyone in our group was constantly commenting on how Caravan could make any money off of this based on the amazing hotels, guides, local tours, meals. Etc. The best possible introduction to Costa Rica at an amazing price. I have traveled the world both independently and with groups for over 40 years - ours was the best director I’ve ever traveled with.”

Ms. M.D., San Diego, California

“As a travel agent, I would recommend clients to Costa Rica with Caravan. This was an excellent tour, especially since everything was included. We saw and did a great deal in a short period of time.”

Mr. & Mrs. B.S., Rochester, New York

“This was our 5th trip with Caravan and counting. Once again, the hotels chosen by Caravan were wonderful, each one with its specialty. Caravan has a knack for choosing sights and activities. Something for everyone. Have many times told others about your company.”

Mr. & Mrs. R.C., Greenville, Rhode Island

“Caravan tours are not only an amazing value, they are an incredible trip. All tours, parks, etc. were included and made for a carefree vacation. The hotels, the meals, the coach, the tour guide and driver, and the activities that are included are wonderful. We had several single travelers that felt very much included and we all ended up saying ‘goodbye’ as one big group of many members of a special family for a week. I belong to a few travel groups, and I live in a large travel community - I’m already spreading the word about Caravan.”

Ms. K.G., Santa Maria, California

“We had a very good experience in Costa Rica. Excellent hotels, very neat and clean, convenient locations. Very good service provided. Excellent hotels, motorcoach, sightseeing, activities, all three meals, what else would any tourist want? We will recommend to all our friends and family.”

Mr. D.P., Paramus, New Jersey

“I want to thank Caravan and especially our tour director for sharing Costa Rica with us. Everyone was so happy and helpful and full of life. I had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend this company to family and friends. Caravan is truly blessed to have a great team representing the company and the country and its people. The memories will last a lifetime. Pura Vida!”

Mrs. M.P., Mechanicsville, Virginia

“Really nice plants, flowers, meals were nice, nutritious, fruits, very healthy and plenty to eat. I like Caravan very much. Hotels were wonderful, natural beauty. Enjoyed seeing the natural settings and wild animals. Very insightful and educational. Director was fantastic, very energized and took excellent care of us. She is very inspiring. I very much enjoyed being on a guided tour more than being on my own. You see a lot more with a group, nice people on the coach. We would not have had so much fun if we went alone. We saw more at a great price. Caravan is top-notch.”

Mr. & Mrs. C.S., Aurora Illinois

“It was a terrific trip. We met some nice people and shared some of our stories. Most of the guests wondered how Caravan can keep the cost of the tour as low as it is. The hotels were better than I have experienced. The meals were freshly made and consistently good and agreed with me. I wish I ate this well all the time! There was great variety in the elevations and climate on the trip, plenty of rest stops. Our director was a very talented woman. She somehow quickly knew all our names. She likes presenting her country to the outside world. Costa Rica can be very proud of her.”

Mr. & Mrs. R.M., Feura Bush, New York

“This was my first vacation in over 40 years! Yes, what have I been waiting for? I’m so glad my friend asked me to go on the tour. Wonderful experience for me. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the places utilized. Really enjoyed the Marriott in Guanacaste. Absolutely fabulous director and driver. What remarkable, wonderful people. We all sang their praises many times.”

Ms. S.C.B., Moorestown New Jersey

“This was our fifth Caravan tour and it did not disappoint. What we particularly like about Caravan is that we always seem to have a variety of hotels - some are five star, some are more rustic and others are more unique. We could not complain, a good variety, there seemed to be something for everyone.”

Mrs. K.D., Conshohocken, Pennsylvania

“This was our first Caravan tour and we were very pleased at all aspects of the experience. We never doubted that things would be first class. Rooms were comfortable, food was good at every stop. The educational value of the stops was impressive. I think a great deal of our satisfaction was due to our director. We had an outstanding tour director, the good humor, graciousness and unfailing patience was evident from our first group meeting to the very minute of departure. She was able to gauge the tenor of our group and the spirit she seemed to sense amongst us. As they say in sports, there was great chemistry and understanding what was needed to make for a successful experience. The feeling among the travelers was unanimous that this success owed a great deal to the professional attitude, skill and friendship of Costa Rica. Pura Vida!”

Mr. D.R., Annandale, Virginia

“Caravan Tours, well done! It was spectacular. The J.W. Marriott and the Intercontinental were just superb. And by the time I left I had a wonderful sense of the country of Costa Rica. We saw so much wildlife and beauty, and our director was an expert of wildlife and history of Costa Rica, a beautiful country. We have been on many other tours and this was the best trip we have ever taken. Every detail from the moment we arrived until we were taken back to the airport was very well planned. I give Caravan an A+. We will see you all again on another adventure, thank you so much!”

Mr. & Mrs. R.H., Bothell, Washington

“The best vacation I’ve ever been on, by a longshot! Wonderful! Our tour guide and driver made every effort to make our experience exceptional. Beautiful, comfortable safe hotels. Wonderful selections, real gems. I look forward to my next Caravan trip. Not sure if anyone catch match our director and driver combo in Costa Rica, but I am hopeful! Everyone, from the man who met us at the airport to the return at the end, was so kind!”

Ms. L.G., Oak Park, Illinois

“We’ve been on four Caravan tours. We think that overall, this one ranks right on top. We loved the variety! Wildlife rescue center, river cruises, quaint towns, luxurious resorts and spas, rainforests - all of it made this a magical tour. Perfectly timed stops, nice shopping opportunities, unique photo opps, terrific! Magnificent accommodations and locations. Each hotel was great. I am a travel agent and brought a group, and on the first day, one of my clients exclaimed ‘I’m so impressed already!’ The day of rest at the Marriott was perfectly timed. People looked up the price online and were blown away that we could stay there for two nights. It was so nice to stay at such quality hotels. Looking forward to future Central American tours. Food was plentiful and tasty. Every activity was enjoyed by all. We loved all the wildlife we got to see, and I cannot find enough superlatives to describe our TD. She set the tone for us to be positive and on time. We all fell in love with our conscientious, knowledgeable and extremely personable tour director. She made our group feel like family.”

Mr. & Mrs. D.B., The Villages, Florida

“Wow! I’d go on this same trip again. My daughter and I talk about it all the time when we call each other. We tried so many new foods, everything was so tasty and delicious. I could live like that everyday. We didn’t want to leave. The hot springs, we loved ‘em. The river cruises were fun and gave us a different view. It was a highlight to see the story of coffee in real life. Interesting to see the oxcarts and I appreciate seeing the old ways. You are so lucky to have your director. She got to know all of us as friends, had great history to share, and stories about Costa Rica. Thank you for a really wonderful trip.”

Ms. L.H., Emerald Hills, California

“Excellent value. Hiking, boat trips, city tours...all provided a broad view of Costa Rica. My favorite was the hanging bridges. The two night stays made the tour much less stressful and more enjoyable. Our director was a rare jewel. She was available 24/7 and made the tour so much fun. Really enjoyed the tour and loved our excellent driver. It was amazing how he navigated the coach on the mountain roads. Day by day booklet was very helpful and I will highly recommend.”

Back to Top About Caravan Tours

Caravan’s Proud History

Caravan Tours began selling fully escorted tours in 1952. We have been under the same management and ownership ever since. In 1965, Roger Mudd hosted a two hour CBS TV special on Caravan Tours. This TV production took about one month to make and was so successful it inspired the 1968 romantic comedy movie “If it’s Tuesday this must be Belgium.” In the early 50’s the Mayor of Dublin presented Caravan with the Key to Dublin for bringing the first American tour to the city after WWII. Since then Caravan has been recognized as a pioneer in travel.

Great Value, Book Early

Caravan’s strong buying power gives you great vacations at prices much lower than you can find anywhere. Last year many of our tours sold out quickly. Book early for the date you prefer and the best air fare.

Trade Association Memberships

How does Caravan Tours sell these tours for such a low cost?

Caravan delivers volume to our suppliers, who in turn reward us with their very best prices, we in turn pass these savings on to you, and you reward us by buying our tours. As volume continues to rise, we then receive even better prices from our suppliers, and we pass even greater savings on to you. This year our tours are better than ever.

How satisfied are Caravan clients?

The short answer is “very.” Our surveys are uniformly very positive. However we continually strive to improve our tours, (they are often updated several times in the course of one year), we study all client surveys and suggestions for improvement very carefully.

Pitch-Free Travel

Caravan includes all activities listed in the tour itinerary page. Caravan does not sell any optional activities which can add hundreds of dollars to your tour price. Your free time is scheduled in great settings where there is no need to buy additional expensive activities.
