Reasons Why You Need Guided Grand Canyon Tours

You should take guided tours in the Grand Canyon for many reasons. Not only will it provide you with an incredible experience, but it can also help make your trip more enjoyable and comfortable. Here are some of the reasons why:

  • Unparalleled Expertise: A Grand Canyon tour guide has plenty of knowledge about the area they are taking you through. They’ll be able to answer any questions you have about history, geology, wildlife, or other canyon-related topics and give exciting anecdotes along the way. Plus, their local knowledge will provide you with tips on where to find the best views and hidden gems.

  • Safety First: The Grand Canyon is a vast area and can be difficult to navigate independently. With a guided tour, you can rest assured that your guide is experienced and knowledgeable in the area and will keep you safe while exploring.

  • An Immersive Experience: With guided tours of the Grand Canyon, you’ll get a more immersive experience than if you were just visiting the canyon on your own. You’ll have access to areas of the park that aren’t accessible to the general public or those who don’t have special permits. You may even get to participate in activities like rafting or horseback riding along the trails.

  • Save Time & Money: A guided tour can help save both time and money for your Grand Canyon adventure. You won’t have to worry about researching and planning your trip, and you may even get discounts on tickets or lodging for being a part of a tour group.

As your expert tour guide takes you through the rugged terrain, you’ll get the chance to see parts of the canyon that you would have never explored on your own.

Here’s a glimpse of our all-inclusive guided tours of the Grand Canyon:

Day 1: Explore Phoenix

On Day 1 of your Southwest national park tour, you’ll start in Phoenix, Arizona! After your flight lands, you’ll be picked up by your hotel’s shuttle and checked in at 3:00 p.m. Then, it’s off to the races with Caravan with a welcome briefing at 6:00 p.m. You’ll spend two nights at the Grand Canyon’s South Rim, two nights at Lake Powell Resort, and near Zion National Park.

Day 2: Sedona and Grand Canyon

Welcome to Day 2! We’ll start our morning with sightseeing as we explore Scottsdale and Camelback Mountain. Then we’re off to Sedona, an artist colony surrounded by majestic red rock formations, where you’ll have some free time to explore the shops, galleries, and restaurants.

We’ll end the day with a 2-night stay at a cozy lodge nestled right in the national park near the South Rim. At an elevation of 7,000 feet, it boasts fantastic views. Cap off a great day with a delicious dinner!

Day 3: Discover Grand Canyon National Park

Day 3 is about exploring 280 miles along the Grand Canyon — one of the world’s most breathtaking natural wonders. We’ll start with an orientation and morning drive of the park and visit the amazing Desert View Lookout.

Then, we’ll leave it up to you for the rest of the day! You can:

  • Kick back and take in the Grand Canyon vista
  • Listen to a park ranger talk
  • Take the free shuttle to different points on the West Rim

Want an adventure? Go deeper into the canyon on the Bright Angel Trail, or grab a bike rental. You can even visit historic buildings, like Hopi House and Lookout Studio.

Plus, you get to stay two nights inside the park! That means plenty of time to explore - and two chances to witness jaw-dropping sunset and sunrise!

Day 4: Monument Valley and Jeep Tour

On day four of your trip, we’ll explore Monument Valley with a Navajo-guided jeep tour. Before that, we’ll stop at a Navajo and Hopi Trading Post, where you can buy some amazing Kachina dolls and Native American handicrafts.

Did you know that Monument Valley has been featured in some of the most famous Western films of all time? We’re talking about John Wayne, James Stewart, and more! End your adventurous day at Lake Powell Resort for some much-needed rest on a beautiful lake.

Day 5: Lake Powell

Rise and shine on Day 5 at picturesque Lake Powell and head to the fabulous Rainbow Room for breakfast. Sit back and soak in the stunning 180-degree views of the lake before setting sail on a cruise through Wahweap Bay and Glen Canyon Dam. The afternoon is perfect for relaxing and exploring the Lake Powell Resort.

Day 6: Bryce Canyon National Park

Day 6 brings you enchanting experiences, starting with breakfast at Rainbow Room. Right after, we buckle up and cruise to Kanab, aka Little Hollywood, where you get transported to the golden era of Western movies like: Gunsmoke, How the West Was Won and more

Nature is calling, and next on the list is Bryce Canyon, where you witness the mind-boggling Bryce “Hoodoos” made of colorful limestone spirals. Pause to soak in the staggering views at Sunrise Point and Bryce Point, which overlook the Bryce Amphitheater, before heading to a resort near Zion National Park. Two nights of R&R await you there!

Day 7: Zion National Park

Get excited for Day 7 on our trip because we’re headed to Zion National Park! Rock monoliths galore and stunning scenery await you. You won’t find anything like Zion anywhere else! After the tour, take it easy, hiking or shuttle riding through the park, and make sure to save room for dinner.

Day 8: Off to Las Vegas

Ready for more adventure? Day 8 commences with breakfast, followed by an exciting transfer by Caravan to Vegas. Witness the glamour of the strip in a brief sight-seeing drive before arriving at the airport around 11:00 a.m.

"You guys have your act together. It was like a dream come true for a first timer traveling alone. Nothing went wrong, it all went right. You can't go wrong with Caravan. It's an adventure without the risk. Pure fun, and the new friends you will make are priceless."

Ms. K.P., Boynton Beach, Florida

"This tour was the most amazing trip on which we've ever been. This was our first trip out West and we could not have asked for a better, more enjoyable and more valued tour! The hotels were great, the sights were breathtaking, and the meals were excellent. I enjoyed the food and the friendly staff. I would recommend this tour along with our same tour director and driver. We never felt rushed and we can't wait to go on another Caravan tour. Thank you for a truly memorable and extremely valued tour. Keep up the good work."

Mr. & Mrs. S.P., Harrisonburg, Virginia

"This is a 'five star' trip that everyone should take the time to do. Enjoyed the leisurely pace, delicious meals, and outstanding side trips. Not only was there breathtaking scenery in the Grand Canyon, but everyday promised more and better things to see. Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, Lake Powell, Monument Valley, I can't say enough good things. Thanks to our tour director, we learned SO MUCH about our country's history in the West. This was our first Caravan tour. Caravan is a very organized, efficient tour group that we will take again. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!"

Mr. & Mrs. J.G., Venice, Florida

"I have always been a cruise person, but you have converted me! The whole trip was one wonderful sightseeing adventure. I am so glad we took a guided tour as opposed to driving so both of us could see the sights rather than one driving and missing it all. The tour director and driver were excellent in alerting us in advance of upcoming views. I had no idea how beautiful the area was and how unique each park would be. Being able to see the diverse areas on the tour made it even more spectacular than I could have imagined. This trip was way beyond my expectations. I have only done day tours so I was not sure what to expect. By the end, I felt like everyone was family. I have never been so sorry to see a trip end. If all the tours are as good as this was and the tour directors are as knowledgeable as ours, we will be on more Caravan tours. I have read about all the canyons, but I never imagined the beauty of each of them and the other areas we visited."

Mr. & Mrs. J.R. Yorktown, Virginia

"Caravan is so value packed and has attended to the most minute detail to get the most value for our money. The hotels were terrific! Loved not having to deal with luggage. Once on the tour, they treated us like royalty! The meals were all EXCELLENT! I was so impressed that Caravan provided such wonderful meals in our tour cost. We absolutely had the 'dream team' with our tour director and driver! I enjoyed the sightseeing activities and I also enjoyed the 'free time' in each National Park. The tram system allowed each of us to do as much as we wanted. It was our first guided tour, but it won't be the last. I wouldn't choose another company if Caravan has a package of where we want to go. Some friends drove from Oklahoma and made the same trip. They spent twice the money and didn't see half of what we did. This was my first Caravan tour and it will not be my last. It was exactly what was described in the brochure. It was smoothly run and enjoyable. Thank you for making it so great for so many for so long! It was a great trip and we would choose Caravan in the future!"

Mr. & Mrs. J.W., Downers Grove, Illinois

"The entire tour lived up to and exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed the fact that I didn't have to drive. The hotels and meals were taken care of as well as luggage handled professionally and in a very timely manner. We really enjoyed this tour and are of the opinion that we would struggle to duplicate it entirely on our own. Very enjoyable, a good mix of people from different parts of our country who became our friends on the road. In terms of bang for the buck, it is a deal hard to beat in today's world of high gasoline prices. We look forward to another trip with Caravan, next year to Yellowstone, hoping to see our same tour guide again."

Mr. & Mrs. B.W., Monroe, North Carolina

"Overall, a wonderful eight days, during which I was exposed to sights I never thought existed. The tour was well conducted, the accommodations were excellent and the food was great. Don't know how you do it for what you charge. Will strongly consider other Caravan offerings, and recommend this tour to others."

Mr. & Mrs. D.B., Pinellas Park, Florida
