Sedona & Red Rocks State Park, Arizona
Although not officially a National Park, Red Rock State Park in Arizona is a must-see tourist attraction. Located near Sedona, this is the first stop on Caravan’s Grand Canyon tour from Phoenix Arizona.
Preserved as a State Park, Red Rocks Park is an area filled with many red rock formations, which appear as brilliant orange and red hues during sunrise and sunset.
Locals and tourists alike enjoy a wide range of activities within Red Rocks Park including hiking and mountain biking on hundreds of park trails.
During your tour of the best national parks in the US, Caravan Tours also stops in Sedona, which is a small artist colony offset by a backdrop with stunning views of the towering Red Rocks from Main Street. Our Grand Canyon tour guests have a chance to browse local Sedona art galleries, artist shops, and restaurants.
Montezuma Castle National Monument Tour
Located next to Camp Verde in Arizona, Montezuma Castle National Monument is a well-preserved cliff dwelling of Pre-Columbian Sinagua people, dating back to the 12th century.
The cliff dwellings are often referred to as “prehistoric high-rise apartments.” Montezuma Castle Monument offers a unique look at what life might have been like back in 1125 – 1400 AD.
Grand Canyon National Park Tour
Caravan tour guests have two full days to explore and enjoy Caravan’s Grand Canyon Park. The Grand Canyon was the first national park in the US and covers over 1.2 million acres of the Coconino and Mohave counties so there are lots to do and see.
The Grand Canyon holds several distinctions, it is:
- The 15th oldest US National Park
- A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979
- Considered one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World
- With 4.53 million annual visitors it is also the most visited US national park
As our guests, you’ll enjoy tour accommodations at one of three Grand Canyon National Park hotels located within half a mile of the Canyon’s rim including Thunderbird Lodge, Kachina Lodge, or Maswik North Lodge.
Things to do while on your Grand Canyon National Park tour include a drive of the Grand Canyon, I-MAX movies, shuttle buses to the West Rim, hiking along Bright Angel Trail, and bike rentals; plus, visits to popular lookout points including Desert View Lookout.
Lake Powell & Glen Canyon National Park Tour
Caravan’s Grand Canyon tour includes a guided Lake Powell cruise through Antelope Canyon, which is part of Glen Canyon National Park. Powell Lake is 185 miles long and each year over 2 million people visit Lake Powell reservoir along the Colorado River.
Lake Powell’s piercing blue water is a stark contrast to the golden cliffs and lush hanging gardens and creates extremely narrow slot canyons that just beg to be explored. This part of your Grand Canyon tour includes relaxing accommodations at waterfront Lake Powell Resort.
Monument Valley National Park Tour
While the Grand Canyon is one of the top National Parks in the US, our Caravan Grand Canyon tour also includes a visit to Monument Valley National Park.
In order to preserve the ancient petroglyph stone carvings and historical Navajo sites, including the famous sandstone buttes, backcountry access is restricted. Visitors must be accompanied by an official Navajo travel guide.
Caravan’s Grand Canyon tour guests get to enjoy an afternoon guided jeep tour through this restricted area of Monument Valley National Park, escorted by Navajo guides.
Zion National Park Tour
Zion’s unique geological sandstone cliffs are among the highest in the world. Located in Southwestern Utah at the junction of the Mojave Desert, the Colorado Plateau and the Great Basin, Zion National Park is also home to Kolob Arch, the world’s largest natural arch spanning 310 feet (94.5 m).
Zion National Park forms the middle level of what has been called the “Grand Staircase“ with Bryce Canyon National Park above and Grand Canyon National Park below.
While on our tour of the best National Parks in the US, Caravan guests enjoy 2 nights’ accommodations at Zion Park Lodge, the only hotel inside Zion National Park.
Bryce Canyon National Park Tour
Nowhere else in the world can one find such a concentration of odd-shaped “ hoodoos“ as in Bryce Canyon National Park. Hoodoos are the whimsical and colorful Claron limestone, sandstone, and mudstone rock formations.
You’ll see unbelievable spires, fins, pinnacles, and hoodoo mazes by the thousands. This area also boasts some of the nation’s best air quality!
