Day 2: Museums (Popol Vuh and Ixchel)

The second day starts with breakfast and a Caravan welcome briefing at 8:00 a.m. Afterward, we’ll head to the Popol Vuh Museum to learn about pre-Columbian cultures. There are some fantastic pieces of Mayan jewelry and pottery to check out. Then, we’ll visit the Ixchel Museum to learn about textile weaving, one of the Guatemalan traditions.

Lunch will be provided, and then we’ll drive through the center of Guatemala City to visit the Metropolitan Cathedral and the French-styled National Palace. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy at the hotel’s amenities, which include fine shops, spas, and pools, and a delicious dinner at the end of the day.

Day 3: Lake Atitlán

Welcome to Day 3 of our adventure! We’ll kick off the morning by taking a scenic drive through Guatemala’s awe-inspiring highlands – a region blessed with plenty of volcanic soil, perfect for growing crops like tasty beans, spuds, and the fantastically-named “maiz.”

We’ll then meander to Iximché, an epic Mayan archaeological site that was the last hurrah for the Midwestern Highlands before the Spanish took over. Nowadays, it’s a must-visit spot for Mayans and shamans! Before settling down for a yummy lunch, take a playful stroll around the ball courts and six connecting plazas (you’ll see one pyramid and ceremonial altar for each!).

Later in the day, we’ll head up to Lake Atitlán, which stands proud at an impressive 5,125 ft. above sea level, and spend two glorious nights at the famed Hotel Atitlán. Don’t forget to join us for dinner!

Day 4: Lake Atitlán, Panajachel

Good morning, sunshine! Day 4 is going to be a blast. First up, experience the cruise on Lake Atitlán, which everyone agrees is “the most beautiful lake in the world.” Get ready to feast your eyes on three massive volcanoes and lush hills dotted with Mayan villages.

After lunch, we’ll hit Panajachel, a town famous for traditional ceramics, textiles, watercolor paintings, and wooden masks. There’s no need to rush, so take your time browsing around. In the afternoon, we’ve got nothing planned except chilling at the pool and soaking up the views. Yay! Dinner is on us.

Day 5: Coffee Plantation in Antigua

Get ready for Day 5! We’ll take a drive out to Guatemala’s number-one coffee-growing region and visit an actual plantation! A cup of fresh and authentic Guatemalan coffee will be waiting for you. If it isn’t enough to get your toes tapping, we’ll swing over to a museum where you can check out the amazing music traditions of Guatemala.

They have unique instruments, such as the Marimba, which will definitely bring the house down! If you thought that was all, think again: we have a private Caravan show with local musicians who will give you a taste of their skills! Then it’s off to Antigua in the highlands of southern Guatemala, where your hotel awaits near the historical district. Another dinner is on us!

Day 6: Antigua

Get ready to travel back in time on Day 6 with a morning tour of Antigua! Antigua has got to be one of the most preserved colonies in Latin America.

Let’s hit up the Central Plaza and marvel at one of the Unesco World Heritage Sites— Antigua Cathedral. We can also tour Las Capuchinas Convent. Antigua is the perfect spot for some shopping too. You can find the following:

  • Embroidered textiles
  • Jade jewelry
  • Carved dance masks

We’ll break for lunch, then enjoy free time in Antigua before ending the day with some delicious dinner.

Day 7: Discover your hotel’s amenities

On the 7th day, you’ll be in Antigua, Guatemala. In the morning, take it easy and chill at your hotel. You can explore their gardens, dip in the pool, or treat yourself to a spa. Later, have lunch. Return to Guatemala City for your final dinner.

Day 8: Return to the City
