Grand Teton National Park
Located at the base of the Teton Range, Grand Teton National Park encompasses over 310,000 acres. Astounding beauty is everywhere in this part of Wyoming including an abundance of wildlife, breathtaking landscapes replete with rich, historical homesteads, and huge cattle ranches.
Grand Teton is the highest summit in this sub-range of the Rocky Mountains with a height of 13,775 feet above sea level. Local creeks and glaciers are fed by this massive mountain range.
Jenny Lake Wyoming
Almost 12,000 years ago glaciers pushed the remains of crushed rocks and sediment down the mountainside carving Cascade Canyon and creating a Moraine (ridge). Your Grand Teton tour includes Jenny Lake, which was named after a Shoshone wife of a trapper.
As with many lakes in the park, Jenny Lake Grand Teton is a pristine lake thanks to its elevation of 7,000 feet above sea level. Surrounded mostly by nature, Jenny Lake has experienced very little impact from modern water or air pollution.
Jackson Wyoming
A visit to Jackson Wyoming (which is often incorrectly referred to as Jackson Hole) is part of this Grand Teton tour also and situated within Jackson Hole Valley. Jackson was initially home to five major Native American tribes including the Arapaho, Shoshoni, Cheyenne, Ute, and Crow tribes. Trappers also had a significant presence in the Jackson Hole area during the 1800s.
The town of Jackson is noted for its shed-antler horn archways that frame four entrances into the downtown square. Jackson is a thriving hub of charming western shops and art galleries and the town of 10,500+ is not far from Yellowstone National Park, another stop on Caravan’s Mt Rushmore tour.
Million Dollar Cowboy Bar
The Million Dollar Cowboy Bar, a landmark watering hole in downtown Jackson, is Wild West extravagance at its best. It’s famous for its unique collection of western memorabilia, unparalleled architecture, and authentic western saddle barstools.
Known globally for its country entertainment and western dancing, The Million Dollar Cowboy Bar has hosted numerous major country artists over the years including Glen Campbell, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Tanya Tucker and Hank Williams Jr.
