See Old Faithful geyser first hand as you explore the world’s first and oldest national park. Yellowstone National Park was created in 1872.
Yellowstone Park - A World Heritage Site
The creation of Yellowstone National Park is often cited as one of America’s greatest ideas. National parks were created to protect and preserve America’s most unique wilderness areas (and its wildlife). The goal was to keep the wilderness and the wildlife in their natural state for public enjoyment and for the enjoyment of future generations.
The large ecosystem of Greater Yellowstone is regarded as one of the world’s biggest remaining intact temperate zone ecosystems. On October 26, 1976 Yellowstone National Park was designated an International Biosphere Reserve and a year later in 1978, a World Heritage Site.
Old Faithful Geyser & Other Geothermal Features
On our Caravan Mt Rushmore Yellowstone tours you’ll enjoy Yellowstone’s most famous geyser, Old Faithful, which is only one of 250 active geysers in the park. In fact, approximately 10,000 thermal features and almost two-thirds of all the world’s geysers can be found here. Take a fully guided tour and come experience all that Yellowstone National Park has to offer.
Other geothermal features include mud pots, steam vents, and natural hot springs & pools like Mammoth Hot Springs. These geothermal wonders are evidence of one of the world’s largest active super volcanoes.
Yellowstone is situated atop a huge volcanic basin (a crater or caldera) that was created over 630,000 years ago during the last major volcanic eruption. The Yellowstone Supervolcano formed a crater that spans almost half of Yellowstone National Park. In fact, the caldera is larger than the states of Rhode Island and Delaware combined, consisting of 2.2 million acres.
Yellowstone Falls & Wildlife
Along with steaming geysers, panoramic views, and pristine untouched mountain lakes, this Caravan Mt Rushmore Yellowstone tour allows travelers to enjoy Yellowstone’s thundering waterfalls. Did you know that Yellowstone Falls is twice the height of the falls at Niagara?
And, since over 80% of Yellowstone Park is forested, Yellowstone is home to abundant and varied wildlife including moose, grizzly bear, big horn sheep, bald eagles, wolves, and free-ranging bison and elk.
Mount Rushmore & Yellowstone National Park Tour

Caravan's Proud History
In 1965, Roger Mudd hosted a two-hour CBS TV special on Caravan Tours. This TV production took about one month to make and was so successful it inspired the 1968 romantic comedy movie “If it’s Tuesday this must be Belgium.” In the early 50’s the Mayor of Dublin presented Caravan with the Key to Dublin for bringing the first American tour to the city after WWII. Since then, Caravan has been recognized as a pioneer in travel. You can trust in our stability, experience and dedication to quality.
Stay at park lodges, scenic resorts, and excellent hotels in great locations. See hotel descriptions on each tour page.
In Costa Rica, Panama, and Guatemala, Caravan includes all meals. For USA and Canada tours, included meals are listed on each itinerary page. In Latin America, bottled water is provided free on the motorcoach and purified water is provided at the meals.
