Begins and Ends: Boston
While enjoying the beautiful fall colors the East Coast has to offer on our Caravan New England Vacation, you will also get to explore the city of Boston, Massachusetts.
All Caravan New England tours start and end in Boston, MA, which is home to several historic national landmarks including Paul Revere’s Old North Church, Fanueil Hall Marketplace, Boston Commons, and Battle Green.
Caravan’s all-inclusive tour of New England includes all itinerary accommodations, meals, ground transportation, airport transfers, and planned itinerary excursions.
As the capital of Massachusetts, Boston is New England’s largest city and one of America’s oldest dating back to 1630. From the Colonial times of early European settlers through to the war of 1812 and the Boston Tea Party, Boston has evolved into a world-class center for education. Along with famous educational institutions like Harvard Medical School, Berklee College of Music, and the Boston Conservatory, other notable places of interest include:
Faneuil Hall Marketplace – Perhaps one of the most historically significant points of interest in the United States, Faneuil Hall was completed in 1742. Leading up to the American Revolution there were countless public meetings within the walls of this building including the historical meeting on the morning after the Boston Massacre in 1770. Today Faneuil Hall is a shopping store with many stores and restaurants.
Massachusetts State House – Situated in downtown Boston at the top of Beacon Hill, the Massachusetts State House was built in 1798 and features federal architectural style. It originally came in at over five times the budget, costing just over $130,000 (which equals about 2.4 million in today’s dollars).
Boston Common – This is the oldest city park in the United States dating back to 1634! Composed of over 50 acres of land, key landmarks inside Boston Common Park include the Boston Common Tablet (also known as the Blackstone Memorial Tablet), Robert Gould Shaw Memorial, Boston Massacre Memorial, Boston Common Frog Pond, and the Soldiers and Sailors Monument.
From Boston’s historical museums and galleries, to its exceptional theaters and entertainment venues like Fenway Park, which hosted the World Series ten times and is home to the Boston Red Sox baseball team, Boston is a vibrant city well worth exploring.
While on Caravan’s New England tour, your all-inclusive vacation includes a one-night stay at the Embassy Suites Logan Airport upon arrival in Boston, MA. This all-suite hotel is less than 2 miles from the Boston City Center and is the perfect hotel to kick off your visit to Boston. From Boston, your Caravan tour moves south to visit Plymouth Rock Monument.
Back in 1952 Caravan Tours started as a small family owned and operated tour company. More than 65 years later we remain one of North America’s top fully guided, all inclusive tour companies to some of the best destinations in the United States, Canada and Central America.

“This was my dream vacation and along with my husband, best friend and her husband, I couldn’t have asked for a better time. Breakfasts were amazing, the hotels very nice clean and the scenery was just beautiful. The sights were awesome, more than I ever expected. The colors were perfect and the history was out of this world. Saw everything we hoped for plus more than was planned. The fall foliage was at the perfect time and was beautiful. I would definitely take another tour with Caravan. It was a lifetime experience. Everything I wanted to see. Thank you.”Mr. & Mrs. S.B., Minot, North Dakota
“Beautiful, magnificent hotels. The views from the hotels in the mountains were breathtaking. The photo stops were great and offered all the marvelous views of each state. Sightseeing was awesome, so many things to see and do.”Ms. N.K., Apopka, Florida
“Thoroughly enjoyed my first trip with Caravan Tours - will return for other trips! Enjoyed all the sightseeing opportunities and added ideas from our director, who was excellent and pointed out sites to see for pictures. Gave historical info, added stories, answered questions. Provided materials and maps and was always very polite, friendly and cheerful. We had sufficient time to enjoy the surroundings and take pictures. Enjoyed the variety of activities, films, displays. All the hotels were four to five star with clean comfortable beds and self controlled environments. Just a lovely time all around. Will share with friends.”Mr. & Mrs. J.A., Tucson, Arizona
“Over the top! First time to New England and I really felt we covered so much, enough to suit everyone. I’m an artist and took so many pics, I’ll be painting from them for years to come. This was the first guided tour we had ever taken so we did not know what to expect. Tour was GREAT. We thought going in that would be lots of down (boring) time. Wrong. All the activities were well-planned and fun. Tour was set up to provide much to see. The time went by fast and colorfully. We were told by a couple that wasn’t on the tour who saw our Caravan luggage tags that we would have a great time and that Caravan does the best tours. SO TRUE! Thanks for a wonderful trip.”Mr. & Mrs. E.L., Aurora, Colorado
“The Caravan value is unsurpassed. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone who has never traveled to New England states, loves history and beautiful scenery. We were fortunate to enjoy a late fall foliage. Photo stops abound on the multistate tour. We really enjoyed the history and beauty of the region. Our tour guide left no question unanswered. We loved the smaller boutique hotels and the condo with the fireplace.”Mrs. C.D., Reisterstown, Maryland
“This was my first guided tour, and I feel like I hit the jackpot. Our director shared insights into history and was attentive to our needs. Our team worked together to offer us the best views and colors, even making some adjustments along the way. All our short stops were for rest and conveniences and beautiful photo opportunities. All our main activities were well-planned, with plenty of time to enjoy each stop, and the colors were breathtaking. I truly enjoyed this trip. I enjoyed meeting new people and our weather was spectacular. I will definitely recommend Caravan to others.”Ms. F.L., Rusk, Texas
“Excellent. We learned so much more of our country’s history, and our TD was the best. Couldn’t have asked for better. We all laughed and had a great time. We were so pleased with everything we did. All the staff at each hotel were wonderful, and the seafood was terrific. So nice to not worry about our bags and rooms. Love your company and will tell everyone what a great time we had. You are the best!”Mr. & Mrs. S.M., Bayfield, Colorado
“Beautiful locations. Overall an outstanding mix of all New England has to offer with the backdrop of beautiful color. As our director told us, the regional fall colors would leave us wanting more! It was a wonderful experience to be part of this party! Entertaining, enthusiastic and knowledgeable, I would go anywhere with our director. The last hotel in Kennebunkport was our favorite. Loved the Norman Rockwell museum.”Mrs. K.S., Davis, California
“This New England tour is an exceptional value. I did not know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of guide, driver, hotels and food! All sights were appropriate to the day’s themes. Our coach driver was a true gentleman and wonderfully safe. Looking forward to another trip with Caravan.”Ms. S.B., Redwood City, California
“Caravan Tours are always well planned and well paced with respect to interesting, informative, and historically relevant stops, out-the-window sights, and fun-on-the-go interactive activities, games, and discussions with fellow passengers. Always well put together, with rest stops, breaks, well-timed and at nice places with snacks and souvenir items. Photo stops are also well-timed and planned, and usually easily accessed for those memorable shots. Our director was as good as it gets, I would go to the moon with her. The local guides were well-spoken, enthusiastic, and adept at demonstrating their craft and explaining their venue and procedures, a good extra dimension for the tour. Mostly comfortable accommodations and nicely appointed, with good local views and the fireplaces were a very nice touch. Caravan coach drivers make the journey smooth as silk; jovial, professional and always helpful.”Mr. & Mrs. J.S., Las Vegas, Nevada
“Our third tour Caravan, this time a reunion with friends from Colorado. Caravan did a good job keeping us near one another in the wonderful accommodations, all clean and comfortable and some with great views. We appreciated that.”Mrs. C.H., Decatur, Georgia
“We are very glad we took this tour for our 50th anniversary. We felt the hotel rooms were very good and the baggage handling was well done. We were satisfied with everything we saw and did. Would recommend Caravan to everyone and anyone.”Mr. & Mrs. S.B., New London, Wisconsin
“It’s obvious that Caravan Tours is well organized, knows how to conduct tours and is attentive to giving travelers value for the $$$. Our rooms were always ready upon our arrival and our luggage arrived at our room within a reasonable time. We were very happy with the accommodations. The minutes, hours, and days were filled with educational information and sights of our country, founding fathers and how the other half lives. Thank you Caravan for creating an educational and entertaining experience for us, we look forward to booking in the future. 5 Stars. ”Mr. & Mrs. J.T., Kaneohe, Hawaii
“First class all the way. Roomy, quiet and comfortable hotels. Good balance of scenes and history. Lots and lots of great photo stops. The Calvin Coolidge and Norman Rockwell stops were very interesting. Outstanding director! Great impression from first meeting to departure at the airport. This was our 5th Caravan tour and this one was as great as the previous four. This was hectic at times, but it had to be to squeeze everything in!”Mr. & Mrs. D.J., Clinton, Mississippi
“This trip was the first we’ve ever absolutely enjoyed. We wish we had done this for our honeymoon. It is unusual these days to get much more than you pay for. Totally enjoyed everything we saw and did. Wow, we saw so much, more than we ever imagined and our guides made it even better. Excellent hotels, no complaints, loved them all! The trip was amazing and perfect, don’t change a thing. Best vacation we’ve ever taken. Will definitely do this tour again, along with other Caravan tours. We have made a lot of referrals to my friends. When they saw my pictures they were amazed! Thank you for a great trip!”Mr. & Mrs. R.D., Brusly, Louisiana
“Once again, a great trip, our 3rd with Caravan. We’ve been amazed at the beautiful hotels Caravan uses and this trip was no exception. Loved the farm and boat rides, also just enough shopping. Excellent driver, not to say amazing. He could squeeze that coach through whatever was necessary. Always felt very safe. And our director always kept us laughing, I really enjoyed her!!!”Mr. & Mrs. A.S., Gainesville, Georgia
“This was my fifth Caravan trip and second Fall Foliage tour. I am always looking for areas of improvement and thought I might not like it as much as the first one, but I was wrong. Not only did I enjoy visiting many of the same sites, our director did a great job of adding a few surprises to make it feel unique. Great rest stops and spaced out perfectly. I enjoyed the Sugar Shack and all the walking guides Caravan provided. We were blessed with great weather. Keep up the good work and thank you for another wonderful vacation memory!!!”Mr. R.Y., Worthington, Ohio
“A wonderful tour with a good mix of history, culture, and local flavor. No complaints whatsoever. Especially enjoyed Lexington/Concord and the Rockwell museum. The Bennington rest stop was a welcome addition for this history buff. Our stop at the covered bridge was wonderful. Our driver was safe and courteous, probably the best I’ve had. This was the sixth Caravan tour we have taken. We have enjoyed every one of them and may take a few a second time. We appreciate all the drivers and directors do for us on these tours and the work that your company puts into planning for us.”Mr. & Mrs. S.S., Houston, Texas
“Beautiful part of the country and the history came alive. Caravan planned well. Our guide was excellent in keeping us on track. We loved the history and stories he shared about the places we visited. He made the trip a lot of fun and was patient with those who needed help. Getting to see so many New England small towns and homes was a real treat. We saw a beautiful sunrise. All hotels were excellent with regards to rooms, service and food. In all, a nice trip we would recommend to others.”Mr. & Mrs., Brookville, Ohio
“This was our third trip with Caravan. I believe this tour had the best director of all. Our director was a 10+! Truly a top-notch joy. And all guides were knowledgeable, professional and courteous, sharing history with enthusiasm and humor. All hotels, although very different in character, had wonderful comfortable amenities. Each was representative of the New England area we were visiting. The staff at each made us feel welcome. We found every sightseeing activity stimulating and educational. We were given ample time to enjoy each location. Never felt rushed.”Mr. & Mrs. J.T., Wimberley, Texas
“Wonderful. Don’t change anything. Fantastic, outstanding trip. This is my fifth Caravan tour and your hotels on this trip surpassed all others on a whole. Wide variety of sightseeing and loved our guide. You definitely need to keep him and give him a raise. Will highly recommend it.”Mrs. E.W., Lynchburg, Virginia
“Overall a great tour, more than we expected. We won the leaf lottery and have the pictures to prove it! The covered bridges took my breath away. Loved the shipyards and Rockwell museum. We especially enjoyed the Cape Codder and Anchorage by the sea, spectacular decorations. Our TD was very helpful, she personalized the trip and made it fun!”Ms. V.V., Destin, Florida
“It was a very pleasant, informative trip and full of history. Being a retired event/meeting planner for a major pharmaceutical company, I always enjoy trips that I don’t have to plan. It’s nice to have someone tell you where to be and what time to be there. We were pleasantly pleased with most of the places we visited. Norman Rockwell museum was spectacular. Wonderful. Portland, Maine is also a neat town - very artsy and diverse. It was a great trip and I would do another Caravan tour. I enjoyed making new friends and memories. Thank you to Caravan for the opportunity.”Mr. W.R., Cumming, Georgia
“This was my first tour with Caravan and it was a positive experience. I really enjoyed the opportunity to see all that New England had to offer. Our tour through the states provided plenty of fall foliage and historical sites. From covered bridges to Portland, Maine, many lighthouses. The tour of Breakers reminded me of another era. We had more than enough stops and our director was sensitive to the needs of our group, which was an older crowd. Many on the tour had traveled with Caravan before and had many positive things to say about the tour company which, when compared to others, Caravan is reasonably priced.”Mr. D.A., Poway, California
“This was an awesome trip that I would recommend to all my family and friends. We did have awesome weather and it was much warmer than expected and that was nice. I loved everything, the history, the fall colors and the shopping time. I would not change anything. The hotels were wonderful.”Mrs. J.L., Pleasant Hill, California These are only the first 25 reviews of this tour... Read all 136 Reviews »
Caravan Tours began selling fully escorted tours in 1952. We have been under the same management and ownership ever since. In 1965, Roger Mudd hosted a two hour CBS TV special on Caravan Tours. This TV production took about one month to make and was so successful it inspired the 1968 romantic comedy movie “If it’s Tuesday this must be Belgium.” In the early 50’s the Mayor of Dublin presented Caravan with the Key to Dublin for bringing the first American tour to the city after WWII. Since then Caravan has been recognized as a pioneer in travel.
Caravan’s strong buying power gives you great vacations at prices much lower than you can find anywhere. Last year many of our tours sold out quickly. Book early for the date you prefer and the best air fare.
Caravan Tours is a member of ASTA (American Society of Travel Agents), NTA (National Tour Association), CLIA (Cruise Lines International Association), and an allied member of ACTA (Alliance of Canadian Travel Agencies).
Caravan delivers volume to our suppliers, who in turn reward us with their very best prices, we in turn pass these savings on to you, and you reward us by buying our tours. As volume continues to rise, we then receive even better prices from our suppliers, and we pass even greater savings on to you. This year our tours are better than ever.
The short answer is “very.” Our surveys are uniformly very positive. However we continually strive to improve our tours, (they are often updated several times in the course of one year), we study all client surveys and suggestions for improvement very carefully.
Caravan includes all activities listed in the tour itinerary page. Caravan does not sell any optional activities which can add hundreds of dollars to your tour price. Your free time is scheduled in great settings where there is no need to buy additional expensive activities.
