White Mountains National Forest
The White Mountains National Forest (WMNF) contains more than 750,000 acres of federally managed forest located in New Hampshire and Maine. With more than 1,200 miles of hiking trails and 23 campgrounds the White Mountains National Forest is one of the most popular and highly visited recreation sites east of the Mississippi.

Mount Washington, New Hampshire
White Mountains National Forest is home to the Northeast’s highest mountain, Mount Washington. At over 6,200 feet tall, this mountain is famous for unpredictable weather. In 1934, a wind speed of 231 miles per hour was recorded. To this day Mount Washington still holds the world record for highest wind speed recorded not related to a tropical cyclone.
North Conway, New Hampshire
Located in Carroll County, New Hampshire, the small resort town of North Conway sits on the border of Maine with White Mountains National Forest to the west and north. As of 2010, the population of North Conway was only 2,349 people.
The setting is pristine and unrivaled with a backdrop of over 700,000 acres of protected Forest! You’ll also see the Mount Washington off to the northwest.

North Settlers’ Green Outlet Village
Originally opened in 1988, the Settlers’ Green Outlets in North Conway, NH is a landmark shopping experience and a great stop for a relaxed activity or to find a unique souvenir to return home with. There are over 60 outlet stores to browse including local handicrafts, antiques, and gift shops. The local playhouse also hosts live theatre.
Leaving New Hampshire, our New England tour continues on to the state of Maine for a stop in Portland and Kennebunkport.
