Altitude sickness is a real possibility when you arrive, especially in places like Cusco. Travelers will likely need to take a couple of days to properly acclimatize. Plan this into your trip and prepare to not partake in any high-exertion, physical activities upon your arrival. Take your time and stay well hydrated throughout any kind of activity in Peru.
Typically, the best times to visit the Sacred Valley are from late Spring to early Fall, when the climate is considered to be most comfortable. June, July, and August are considered the high-traffic travel months for the area. Depending on what you wish to experience or how long your guide may be, tourists often book anywhere from 3 days to a full week for the Sacred Valley.
Many hikes and treks do call for travelers to be mobile and have some level of cardiovascular strength. Inexperienced hikers should exercise caution or prepare themselves by completing hikes locally before visiting. Know your physical limits and consider that not all hikes are intended for travelers. You can book and pay at the counter before exiting the terminal. The driving time from the airport to your hotel, Marriott Courtyard Miraflores, is approximately 30 - 60 minutes depending on traffic. You can pay using U.S. Dollars, Peruvian Soles, or with a credit card. Taxi fares range from 90 - 130 Peruvian Soles, or $25 - $35 U.S. Dollars (depending on the exchange rate) plus tip.
